About
What WineHQ is
A structured knowledge platform for wine. Everything on it is built from a typed entity graph, every recommendation can explain itself, and every tool shows its working.
The problem it exists to solve
Wine information online splits into three unsatisfying piles. There are shops, which will tell you anything that helps a bottle move. There are blogs, which are one person’s impressions with no way to tell a measured claim from an enthusiasm. And there is an expanding layer of generated encyclopaedia content that reads fluently and cites nothing.
None of them can answer the question people actually have, which is almost never “what is Nebbiolo”. It is “I liked that, what next”, or “what goes with this”, or “why does this taste like that”, or “is this bottle ruined”. Answering those needs structure, not prose.
How it is built
Entity graph
192 grapes · 252 styles · 425 regions
Grapes, styles, regions, countries, foods, topics, faults and terms are separate typed entities with typed relationships between them, not headings in an article.
Taste model
Ranges, not points
Every profile stores a minimum, a typical and a maximum on sixteen dimensions, because Chablis and a Napa Chardonnay are both Chardonnay and any single number would be a lie about one of them.
Explainability
Every score decomposes
Similarity, pairing and finder results are sums of named components. A recommendation that cannot say why it was made does not ship.
Evidence
123 named sources
Claims carry a type, a tier and, where they are volatile, the date they were checked. Statistics do not quietly become permanent facts.

28,068 catalogued questions, and an honest account of which are answered and which are not.
What it deliberately is not
- Not a shop, and not a price comparison. WineHQ holds no prices, no stock and no merchant catalogues.
- Not a review aggregator. No critic scores, no reproduced tasting notes for specific bottles, no scraped databases. Facts are extracted; explanations are written here.
- Not a producer directory. Individual wineries are out of scope, which means no fabricated vintages, addresses or ownership details.
- Not a lifestyle publication. Wine is treated as a subject to be understood, not a wellbeing product or a personality.
- Indexing: permitted. Search-engine indexing is off by default and gated in three independent places.
- Analytics: not configured. No measurement ID has been invented; nothing is transmitted until one is supplied.
- Commercial links: disabled. No affiliate URL is hard-coded anywhere in the source.
