This describes what the site actually does today, verified against the source, rather than a generic policy covering things it might do later.
What WineHQ does not do
- No accounts. There is no sign-up, no login and no user record of any kind.
- No profiles. Your answers in the Wine Finder are not stored, not linked to you and not used to build a picture of your taste over time. Each request is scored and forgotten.
- No third-party trackers. No advertising pixels, no social embeds, no fingerprinting scripts. The site loads no resource from any external host — that is enforced technically, not merely intended.
- No selling or sharing of data. There is nothing to sell.
What is handled
Two interactions send anything to a server at all. The search page submits your query as a URL parameter so results can be rendered, and the Wine Finder posts your answers so scoring can run on the server rather than requiring the whole dataset to be downloaded to your browser. Neither is logged to a database, associated with an identifier, or retained after the response is sent.
Everything else on the site — including all the calculators, the fault troubleshooter and every reference table — runs either at build time or entirely in your browser. Nothing you type into a calculator leaves your device.
Analytics
No measurement ID has been supplied to this build and no analytics transport is wired up, so no analytics requests are made at all. WineHQ has deliberately not invented a placeholder ID in order to appear complete. When analytics is switched on, it will be aggregate page and tool usage only, with advertising features off.
Server logs
Any web server records requests at the infrastructure level — the requested URL, a timestamp, and the requesting address — and WineHQ’s eventual host will be no exception. That is a function of hosting rather than of anything this site does with your data, and those logs are not used to build profiles.
Your rights
UK and EU data protection law gives you rights of access, correction, erasure and objection over personal data held about you. Because WineHQ holds no personal data, there is in practice nothing to access, correct or erase — but if you believe otherwise, the contact route below is the way to raise it.
