What is Washington Cabernet Sauvignon?
Washington’s vineyards sit in a desert rain shadow east of the Cascades, with very hot days and cold nights and long summer daylight from the northerly latitude.
That extreme diurnal swing gives wines with New World ripeness but firmer acidity and structure than California — one of the more distinctive combinations in American wine.
Red Mountain produces the most tannic wines in the state; Walla Walla Valley the most celebrated.
